Three selected forms
The selected Mustela product is a face cream, the selected Aveeno product is a lotion and the selected Aquaphor Baby product is an ointment. AAP general material distinguishes these forms, but a form name by itself does not tell you whether a selected US product also carries Drug Facts or what its exact labeled purpose is.
Do not classify by texture alone
The observed Aveeno lotion has Drug Facts identifying dimethicone 1.2% as a skin protectant, and the selected Aquaphor travel ointment has Drug Facts identifying petrolatum 41%. The checked Mustela cream page presents a cosmetic-style ingredient list rather than a Drug Facts panel. We do not infer that every lotion is cosmetic or every ointment has identical drug labeling.
Keep intended use separate
FDA explains that intended use determines whether a product is a cosmetic, a drug or both. Keep the selected label purpose and any active-ingredient panel beside the form. A rich-looking texture or a baby shelf location cannot supply a legal category or authorize a disease-treatment claim.
A construction-aware comparison
For shopping, compare confirmed sizes and prices within a clearly named form and purpose. A lower price per 100 mL does not establish equivalent clinical use or an interchangeable formula. This site has not tested texture, absorption, skin response or treatment performance and provides no personalized choice among the forms.
A form name is a useful starting field
Record cream, lotion or ointment as the selected product describes it. Add quantity dimension, purpose and Drug Facts status in separate columns. This prevents a package called lotion from being assumed cosmetic-only or an ointment name from being treated as a complete explanation of its active ingredient and warnings.
Use general context without prescribing
AAP explains differences in moisturizer forms in general dry-skin material. We do not turn that overview into a rule that every baby must use one particular form. Actual label scope, individual clinical questions and the unresolved age-source difference remain visible after the form has been identified.
Before you decide
- Keep exact selected product, size and source date
- Separate label facts, source conflicts and individual questions
- Use actual package instructions; shopping tools supply no personal regimen
