The three observed packages

The Mustela front label shows 40 mL and 1.35 USfl oz. The selected Aveeno bottle is 18 fl oz with a 532 mL label record. The selected Aquaphor Baby travel tube shows NET WT 1.75 OZ and 50 g. The first two are volume declarations; the third is mass. The product form does not decide the dimension for you.

A cream can be labeled by volume

A cream is not automatically sold by weight, and a plain oz title can omit important context. Read FL OZ, NET WT, mL or g on the actual selected package. We visually checked the Mustela and Aquaphor fronts and used the Aveeno selected 18 fl oz/DailyMed 532 mL record rather than assuming every baby lotion size uses the same dimension.

Refuse the missing conversion

Mass and volume cannot be equated without an appropriate product-specific density. We do not use 1 g=1 mL or treat 1.75 oz of ointment as 1.75 fluid ounces. The unit-cost tool keeps mass and volume separate and withholds a cross-dimension comparison rather than producing a false cheapest-product result.

Use a clear denominator

Keep price, quantity, selling unit and dimension together. A per 100 g ointment cost and a per 100 mL lotion cost are separate numbers, not directly comparable denominators. They also do not establish equal application amounts, treatment value or a number of uses. No individual dose or expected lifetime is inferred from package quantity.

Do not use the form to guess the unit

The selected Mustela face cream has a volume declaration on its front. The selected Aquaphor travel tube has a mass declaration. Cream does not mean weight, and tube does not mean fluid volume. The literal FL OZ or NET WT wording is the useful distinction for an actual package comparison.

An ambiguous title stays ambiguous

If a listing only says oz without enough context, choose plain oz in the worksheet. It withholds a conversion until the actual label dimension is known. Adding a density guess or assuming that every baby product behaves like water would make a confident number out of missing information.

Before you decide

  • Keep exact selected product, size and source date
  • Separate label facts, source conflicts and individual questions
  • Use actual package instructions; shopping tools supply no personal regimen
