Read the actual panels
The selected Aveeno Drug Facts identifies dimethicone 1.2%; the selected Aquaphor Baby travel panel identifies petrolatum 41%. The active ingredients are different substances in different formulas. A larger percentage is not evidence that one product is stronger, better or more appropriate for every baby.
Keep the purpose beside the number
Keep active ingredient, purpose and full warnings together on the actual selected label. A cosmetic-style ingredient list does not use the same panel structure. The checked Mustela page lists ingredients but is not presented here as if it had the same skin-protectant Drug Facts as either selected OTC-labeled product.
Do not infer inactive percentages
An inactive ingredient can still matter to an individual question, but its position on a list does not give this reference an exact concentration. We do not calculate ingredient exposure, allergy risk or potency from label order. A matching ingredient name across products also does not establish identical formulas or clinical use.
No personal treatment calculation
Our shopping tools never combine an active percentage with a baby weight, age or skin area to recommend an amount. Questions about symptoms, medicine use or individual suitability belong with the actual label and appropriate clinical guidance. This reference documents selected product fields and bounded arithmetic while independent pediatric review remains pending.
Inactive does not mean irrelevant to a question
The inactive list is part of the exact selected label and can be important when asking the maker or clinician about an individual concern. This site does not dismiss an entry because it is inactive, nor does it diagnose a reaction from that entry. Its concentration is not inferred from its list position.
Do not compare unlike actives as doses
Dimethicone and petrolatum are different active ingredients in the observed panels. Comparing 1.2 with 41 as though the numbers were doses of one medicine would be misleading. Keep each active, purpose and actual warnings together rather than choosing by the larger percentage or a perceived strength label.
Before you decide
- Keep exact selected product, size and source date
- Separate label facts, source conflicts and individual questions
- Use actual package instructions; shopping tools supply no personal regimen
